Introduction

Hello. I am attempting to compile all of my children's quotes of the day, each day for a year. So many words of wisdom are offered up to me each day for my amusement only. I thought that they are worth documenting and keeping for historical value.

The sources of these little quotes and sayings are my 3 young children. Alexander Leo is 5, Jana Rose is 4 (going on 14) and Andres Ellis is just 2.

For those of you who want to see things from their little world, here's an opportunity to read about it and their "Thought for the Day".

Smelly head

"Hey mum today I smelt my mates head and he smelt mine.....then we both said yuck!!!!! And decided we should have a bath tonight" says Alexander....good idea I thought!!! I certainly don't have that kind of influence to get him to have a bath.

"wow!! But we're not going on it are we? Daddy?"

An overwhelmed titanic obsessed 4 year old Andres....We decided to take the kids to wave farewell the queen Mary from port Melbourne. It took up the whole horizon as we drove closer to it. When looking at it you wondered how it stayed afloat. To which I get asked every couple of days "is the queen Mary still floating?", miss Jana, 6.

The dark side

After watching an episode of Star Wars miss Jana says "I like the dark side mum". Oh dear what am I to do with that. Jana is preparing me for teenage hood - drop a bombshell and see how my parents react. "mum I got married on the weekend", "I got a tattoo", "I'm pregnant" ......scary. Perhaps they should call puberty the "Dark Side"...it's a time when they work out who they are and decide whether they are with the Empire or the Imperial side. Or something like that anyway. So we are Yoda in the scheme of things, guiding them to do the right thing, listen to their heart and feel their way through life. "There is no TRY there is only DO. To try is to fail" and all that. Luckily I have a few more years before she loses that innocent way of thinking and enters the dark side. Let's just hope she comes out of it on the right side :)

"Mummy can you marry a girl" says Jana, 6. "Because I dont want to have babies cut from my tummy!"

This is a recurring theme with my little girl. She has a fear of having babies - not that she doesnt like babies.

"Well Im going to marry my Mum" says Alexander

"you cant do that" says his friend. "she's too old!!!"... :(

"There's a spikey in my room!!!"

Andres screams out in the middle of the night. "Daddy, Daddy there's a spikey in my room". We still dont know what a spikey is. A spider, a bug????? No to all of these explanations.

"Mummy's Dont Jog!!!" says 3 yr old Andres

Upon seeing a 'mummy' jogging along the footpath, Andres made this exclamation. "They stay at home with us, only Daddy's jog!".

"Im not getting married", 5 year old Jana proclaims

"why not?" I ask. "Because Im going to fall in love, once Ashley grows up a bit more, but we arent going to get married". "What about having babies?" I asked. "Oh no, Ashleigh hates babies" Jana assures me.

"mummy can I marry a girl?"

Says Jana, 5 year old. "Because I dont want to get married and have babies with a boy".

"Mummy Jana's suckin the mouth"

....says Andres when Jana is sucking her thumb quietly in the back seat. Its good to have a little spy in the camp :)

"Mummy when I grow up I'm going to be Rhapsody and then I'm going to learn how to drive"

of course, that's Rhapsody from The Fairies.

Not sure how the learning to drive is connected to it all though.

"I'm going to do whatever I want to do"

Spoken by a true 4 year old girl who knows what she wants in life.

Always correcting me about factual things like what the time is and the day. How can you argue with someone so knowledgeable at that age???!!!!!!

So I just give in :) I hope her teachers do better than me when she starts prep next year.

Hilarious giggling from my 2 year old in the back seat

"Mummy...Jana burping" in between continual giggling.....Andres was laughing himself silly at my 4 year old's snoring asleep in the seat next to him.

It was possibly the first time he had heard snoring in his wee life.

"stoma, miti, eftia"

My 2 year old Andres' blurt of words at the dinner table!! John and I nearly choked on our dinner.

Translated it is mouth, nose and ears in Greek. Time to escalate his Greek language education by the look of it!!! All in perfect pronunciation too.

"But my eyes want to keep looking"

Exclaimed Alexander when I was cleaning my surgical cut and he told me to stop touching it, its scary. I told him to look away or go to another room and dont look, to which he replied....

"Mummy thanks for giving me a cuddle until I went to sleep the other night"

My grateful little man, Alexander 5, showing his appreciation for me lying with him until he slept. He was feeling a little upset. Ah the joys of being a Mum to some little human beings that we made :)

"want lollies!"

2 year old Andres' favourite words spoken like a mantra to the Gods over and over and over and......

"Mummy are you looking for a parcark"

"Daddy I have lots of money in my money box in my room, you can have all of it".

My sweet thoughtful little boy after Daddy's wallet had been stolen (well the contents of it anyway) when he left it on top of the car. A very common occurrency by parents when putting children in their car seats. Wallets or mobile phones anyway. I once found my mobile phone meters from a corner where we had parked.
